Because the system of phoning at 08.00 means that you are often in a long queue, it isn't always possible to know if you can get an appointment that day? Phoning later means being able to speak to a receptionist, but pre booking slots have usually gone by then. However, being able to book an online appointment to speak with my doctor is very reassuring!

Nothing! I totally understand the reasons for the frustrations.

When I need an appointment it’s often not easy to get one for a few weeks

When I get a text message requesting that I come into to the surgery for an appointment it would be useful to know what it’s for e.g . Annual health check , mental health check , blood test etc I often have no idea what I am attending for until I arrive

Pre COVID appointment bookings were simple. Call in to the surgery, speak to reception and arrange. Now all has to be done by phone or online. Try getting through on a Monday morning, nightmare.

Unless a caller is lucky with the ‘08:00 lottery’ they may be unable to get an appointment/callback on the day. I cannot imagine that anyone rings just for something to do and if the caller’s issue is one of urgency, not being able to get an appointment may be both stressful and detrimental to their well-being. I have mostly been fortunate in getting an appointment when required.

Consider a return to pre-Covid times when one could come into the surgery and either wait or be given a later appointment should their issue be judged as meriting urgent attention. I would have liked to review my doctor (Barrow), but he is not on the list on the following page.

I couldn't ask for better care from my surgery

Nothing
